Coming Back Is More Than Returning

Some returns simply bring us back to a place, while others remind us who we are and where God is still calling us to go.
After several weeks of vacation and virtual gatherings, this week we began seeing one another face to face again. What a simple and beautiful gift it has been to greet each other in person, to hear one another’s voices without a screen between us, and to remember that God is also present in those small and precious moments of fellowship.
Today we also gathered again for our Double Nutrition Thursday, a beloved space at Semillas de Esperanza where we learn how to care for our bodies through healthy nutrition while, at the same time, gathering around God’s Word to nourish our hearts. Returning to that table reminds us that caring for one another, listening to one another, and growing together are also ways of receiving and sharing the love of God.
And as we came back together, I found myself thinking that perhaps coming back is about much more than simply resuming an activity. Sometimes God uses a return to begin something new within us.
In Mark 14, we find Jesus gathered around a table with His disciples. There is bread, conversation, closeness, questions, and also difficult moments. What is so beautiful is that Jesus shares the table with them knowing they still have much to learn. That, too, is grace: God does not wait for us to have everything in our lives perfectly in order before drawing us close. He welcomes us as we are, and from that place of grace, He continues shaping our hearts.
Perhaps that is why this return is such a precious opportunity. We are not simply coming back to a room, a class, or a church program. We are returning to conversations, to prayer, to smiles, to the embrace of community, and to the joy of walking together.
Proverbs 6 gently reminds us that life also calls for wisdom, responsibility, and healthy habits. Our faith is not only reflected in what we say on Sunday; it is also seen in how we care for our bodies, use our time, do our work, speak to others, and treat the people God places along our path.
And as we journey through Psalms 26 through 30, we discover another beautiful invitation: to delight in the presence of God. The psalmist speaks of loving the house of the Lord, seeking His face, gazing upon His beauty, listening for His voice, and recognizing Him as our strength. These are the words of someone who has discovered that being near to God is not an obligation, but a gift. Perhaps that is why gathering again means so much: we do not return simply to fulfill an activity, but to share together the joy of seeking God, listening to His Word, and delighting in His presence in the midst of our community.
That is why we welcome this new season with hope.
At Semillas de Esperanza, we believe that God cares about every part of our lives. We nourish the body, we nourish the heart, and we strengthen the community. We gather around the table because some things can only grow when we walk alongside one another.
This week we came together again to share, to learn, and to grow. But perhaps God is inviting us into something even more beautiful: not simply to return, but to begin again with Him.
What a joy it is to walk together once again.
Welcome home.
We keep sowing hope.
